· Keep finger and toe nails short for everyones safety.
· All students must wear a GI (both jacket and pants) when training in Jiu-Jitsu class. And must be worn at all times during the class.
· Please wear a rash gaurd or t-shirt underneath the GI.
· GI’s should be kept clean and odor free. A dirty GI is a sign of disrespect.
· No rips or tears in uniform Gis and Nogi gear
· When tying your GI face the wall.
· The belt represents your progress, always keep it on.
· Jewelry must be removed before class (the academy is not responsible for lost items).
· If you notice any skin conditions/rashes, please get it checked by a professional and adhere to the advise they give you
· Personal hygiene is paramount, as Jiu-Jitsu is a close contact sport.
· Always collect attendance card at reception before class and bring to the line up for every class.
· Try and arrive on time to class, if you are late please enter the mats gracefully and dont cause distraction to the class (Instructors or students)
· Classes will end with a formal bow to the instructor’s with the students lining up in descending grade order.
· During class when the instructor’s are demonstrating a technique all students stay in silence.
· If you need to leave the mat or leave class early you must mention to the instructor before doing so.
· Students paying cash memberships, Please remember to pay these on the 1st of each month.
· Pay as you go by class must be paid at the start of each class, so please make a member of staff aware your paying and dont leave cash on the desk!
· If the instructor is helping to teach your partner, please let them without any interuptions or distractions.
· If an encounter occurs with a higher ranked student whilst training, please be respectful and move gracefully to an appropiate area on the mats. For example you are rolling and bump into other students – the lower rank student will move accordinly. (Please dont shout for someone to move)
· Talking should be kept to a minimum level so the class is not interrupted.
· Please wear footwear as soon as you exit the mats, especially if using the toilet facilities.
· No outdoor shoes, food or drink on the mats.
· No mobile phones in the Dojo area, unless necessary.
· Please ensure that you help keep the Dojo area clean.
· Ensure you leave no item behind after class as the academy will take no responsibility for these.
· Keep a respectful posture in the Dojo.
· Students must treat all the instructors and other students with respect.
· Absolutley no foul language inside the school.
· “Tap” please ensure you tap if necessary, this will ensure you stay training on the mats for longer, its a learning process and is part of the sport. (If you get tapped, please be mindful of your mannerism) “TAP TODAY, TRAIN TOMORROW”
· No egos in the academy, please leave them outside and your more than welcome to pick them back up on your way out
· Please be respectful to everyone, Jiujitsu is a sport of respect and we like to keep it within the academy. Lower ranked students and beginners please treat the higher rank students with respect. There is a possibility that they have been training longer than you can imagine.
